My love for baking started as a little girl, with my first "baking" memories being of making pretend cakes with mud and leaves, until my wonderful mum bought me a tiny electric children's oven at the tender age of 7! I have also always loved anything involving art & craft and creating things but I never thought of combining my two passions until I was asked by a friend who knew about my passion for baking if I could make her mum's birthday cake. That was back in June 2008 and I have not stopped baking/decorating cakes since! I was still working as a teaching assistant at the time so I started spending all my free time trying out new recipes and learning new skills. During this time, I was being asked more and more to provide cakes for friends and family which was great experience for me until eventually after a year or so I felt brave enough to launch my own company called Francesca's Cakes. The business went from strength to strength, I was getting so many enquiries that I had to make a big decision, so in 2014 I handed my notice in my ‘day job” to concentrate on making cakes full time. I since had the honour of winning several awards for my cakes including Gold and First in category at the World's biggest cake show- Cake International, as well as having pictures of my cakes appear in many wedding magazines and other publications.
I provide cakes for all occasions, from birthdays to christening to corporate but what I absolutely love making is wedding cakes! I love the whole process, from talking to the happy couples to the designing to the creating part! I also provide wedding favours such as welshcakes, cookies and fudge as well as dessert tables. I do not have a “particular” style I specialise in, I enjoy making pretty floral cakes as much as totally unique and personalised designs, this not only gives me the opportunity to make something different every day but I also get to meet interesting people from all walks of life with their own individual styles and personalities!
