Our Story
The Wedding Guild of Wales was founded in 2013 by a small group of experienced wedding suppliers. Concerned about the growing number of magazines, blogs and directories labelling suppliers as “recommended” or “approved” simply because they paid for the privilege, they wanted to create a place full of genuinely recommended suppliers.
We believed strongly that true recommendations should be earned through trust, experience, and proven quality—not purchased.
Every one of our members has to meet strict criteria before joining. Today, we have over 95 trusted suppliers who cater to every style, budget, and personality.
Our objective is also to create respect and trust amongst each other. It is essential that all suppliers work well together for the smooth running of a wedding.
They must have been in business for at least three years.
Must be vouched for by three existing members to be able to join.
Be registered with HMRC and hold the necessary insurances and certificates.
Provide evidence of happy couples from recent weddings.
Work respectfully and effectively with other suppliers as part of a team.

Simply put, we’ve done the research for you. Every member is known and trusted to be reliable, professional, and to deliver an excellent service or product. Weddings involve many suppliers working side by side, and smooth cooperation is vital to ensuring your day runs seamlessly.
Another key consideration is security. Couples often pay deposits to suppliers up to two years in advance, and sadly, some businesses fold before the wedding date, leaving couples without what they paid for. With the rise of social media, we see stories almost daily of couples being let down by traders who lacked experience, stability, or proper business practices. That’s why our requirement of three years in business is so important—it greatly improves the likelihood of longevity and reliability.
While we recognize that many new businesses start with great products and creativity, too often some lack the customer service skills or business knowledge to last.
Many “Facebook-only” startups also fail because they rely solely on free promotion without investing in their business. These risks are exactly what we aim to shield couples from.
That said, we do support and mentor new suppliers, offering guidance until they are established enough to join us.
By choosing your suppliers through The Wedding Guild of Wales, you can be confident each one has been carefully vetted, highly recommended, and proven through years of excellent service and quality.
